Honor is preparing for a significant expansion of its flagship Magic 8 series this autumn. According to recent leaks, the upcoming family will feature not just the expected two models but a third, smaller device rumored to be called the Magic 8 Mini.
This move signals a renewed interest in smaller smartphones. As larger displays have become the norm, compact devices are notably rare, yet some manufacturers are starting to explore the segment again. The Magic 8 Mini appears set to compete directly with other compact flagships reportedly in the pipeline from brands such as Vivo and OnePlus.
The leaked details suggest that the Magic 8 lineup will consist of the Magic 8, Magic 8 Pro, and for the first time, the Magic 8 Mini. Each model is expected to feature an LTPO AMOLED display, with the Mini arriving at 6.31 inches, making it considerably smaller than its 6.58-inch and 6.71-inch siblings. The screen is said to offer 1.5K resolution, flat edges, rounded corners, and extremely slim bezels.
Under the hood, the Mini is not expected to cut corners. Rumors point toward a MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, which would place it firmly in flagship territory, though slightly behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 likely to power the regular and Pro versions. All three models are anticipated to include further high-end features such as a new main camera sensor, 3D facial recognition on at least two versions, a 200MP telephoto lens with advanced optics, and a heavily upgraded AI photo engine.
Perhaps most notably, there is talk of battery capacities exceeding 7.000mAh. If realized, this would mark a substantial leap over most competitors, potentially tackling one of the most enduring complaints in mobile tech: endurance.
Honor is expected to introduce the Magic 8 series officially in October, with a launch event in China leading the rollout. Details on European availability for the Magic 8 Mini remain unconfirmed, but the possibility of a compact flagship reaching the continent is sure to attract attention, especially among users seeking powerful hardware without the bulk.
Pricing for Europe is still unknown, but if Honor aims aggressively, the Magic 8 Mini could become a compelling option for those who want flagship specs in a truly pocket-friendly form factor. For now, the Magic 8 Mini remains a promising rumor on the horizon.
