Accessing your car just got simpler for many Mercedes-Benz drivers across Europe. Samsung has introduced a digital car key feature for Mercedes-Benz vehicles, now built directly into the Samsung Wallet app. This rollout means owners of certain Galaxy smartphones can leave their traditional keys at home and rely on their phone for secure entry and ignition.
Integrated Convenience for Galaxy Users
The new feature lets Samsung Galaxy users lock, unlock, and even start supported Mercedes-Benz models by simply carrying their phone. For added convenience, the engine can be started without removing the device from your pocket if you are inside the car. Samsung has also enabled the option to share the digital key with friends or family, offering flexible car access when needed.
Secure by Design
Security forms the core of this update. The digital key leverages Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, which enables precise and secure communication between your Galaxy device and your vehicle. The solution adheres to strict EAL6+ security standards and is further protected by Samsung’s Knox platform. If a device gets lost or stolen, Samsung’s Find feature allows owners to lock or erase the phone remotely, minimizing the risk of unauthorized access to the vehicle. Unlocking the key within Samsung Wallet requires biometric or PIN authentication as an added layer of defense.
Availability and Supported Models
The Mercedes-Benz digital car key is making its debut in Germany and is supported in many other European countries, including France, Austria, and Switzerland. The set of compatible vehicles includes recent models across the E-Class, S-Class, EQS, EQE, and various AMG editions. Galaxy users with devices such as the S21 Ultra, S22 Ultra, S23 Ultra, S24 Ultra, upcoming S25 models, as well as the Z Fold3 and later, will be able to use this feature. Detailed region and model compatibility can be checked via official Mercedes-Benz and Samsung resources.
