In a move that reinforces their position in the premium television sector, Samsung Electronics has obtained the internationally recognized “Real Quantum Dot Display” certification from TÜV Rheinland for its latest QLED TV lineup. This certification confirms that Samsung’s displays adhere strictly to the IEC 62595-1-6 international standard governing Quantum Dot technology.
Strict International Standards for Quantum Dot Displays
The IEC 62595-1-6 standard lays out precise specifications for Quantum Dot light units that utilize blue light sources. TÜV Rheinland’s rigorous assessment involved analyzing the light spectrum output of Samsung’s QLED panels, particularly evaluating the separation of red, green, and blue wavelengths. This spectral purity is critical for achieving high color accuracy and sharp image quality.
The certification highlights that, compared to alternative display technologies, Samsung’s Quantum Dot implementations minimize color blending and image fuzziness. This delivers vivid, precise colors and a realistic viewing experience that meets the high expectations of today’s discerning TV consumers.

Beyond TÜV Rheinland’s technical certification, the global testing firm SGS has independently verified that Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology is free from cadmium, a toxic heavy metal commonly avoided for environmental reasons. This adds an environmental responsibility dimension to Samsung’s premium display offering.
